South Africa’s Rugby Worries over Duane Vermeulen and Bryan Habana

Two players of South Africa are injured before their final Rugby Championship contest with New Zealand in Johannesburg on Saturday. Duane Vermeulen is fighting with a rib injury picked in the 28-10 win against Australia and will have to pass a late fitness test on match day. South African team doctor said: “Duane got a rib cartilage injury felling awkwardly. He was replaced because due to uneasiness he could not continue to play. His response to the treatment is good but we will still train him this week before he is finally called to face New Zealand on Saturday.”

If Vermeulen misses out Schalk Burger would replace. The other injury is Bryan Habana whose head got a blow when he was trying to tackle Wallabies’ try in Cape Town. South African doctor Craig Roberts said: “Bryan went out of the field and the doctor conducted head injury assessment test. Although Bryan came back in the first half, we noticed symptoms of concussion at the interval and we replaced him with JP Pietersen. He will have to pursue post-concussion return protocol of playing before he is considered to play at Ellis Park. ” The South Africa’s team to face New Zealand will be announced on Wednesday.
