Profile of USA Fullback Chris Wyles


Chris Wyles is an American-English rugby union player who plays rugby for USA Eagles and the Aviva Premiership team Saracens as a fullback or wing. Wyles has earned all time highest number of caps as fullback for the U.S. national team. Wyles has remained captain of the USA national sevens team. Wyles went to Saracens in 2008. Wyles made his debut from Saracens on 24 August 2008. He played as a regular starter in the 2009-10 season for Saracens that competed with Leicester RFC in the final of the English Premiership. Brendan Venter named him Player of the Season during the 2009-10 season.


Wyles first played for the US national rugby sevens team at the 2007 Hong Kong Sevens. Then he captained the US in the IRB Sevens World Series, gaining the core IRB Sevens status for the team. He scored 54 tries in 13 tournaments during his stay at the US national Sevens team. He played as a fullback for the Eagles in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He was named the American Rugby News ‘Player of the Year’ because of his performance in the world cup. A leading US rugby publication has included Wyles in the USA Eagles team of the decade.
