Rugby Overview of England Lock James Gaskell

James Gaskell is an English rugby union player who plays for Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks as flanker or lock. When he made debut for Sale in 2008, he was called the Breakthrough Player of the club for the 2009/10 season. He was made captain of the club for the 2010/11 season being the youngest captain in the history of the Premiership. Gaskell studied at Sandbach School in Cheshire and first played rugby there and got graduation from Sale Shark’s rugby academy. In November 2008, 16 members of the club’s senior squad were either injured or were not able to play due to international commitments.


So Gaskell was among the five academy members who were selected to debut their Premiership match against Worcester Warriors. Gaskell was called up in England Under 20s squad to play Under 20s Six Nations. He was given Sale’s Academy Player of the Year award for the 2008/09 season. His first try was scored by him for the Sharks in a 27-26 victory against Cardiff Blues on 16 October 2009. The try which he made against Harlequins in a 21-16 victory was voted as Sale’s try of the season.
