Profile of England Lock Geoff Parling

Geoff Parling is a rugby union player of England who plays as a lock for Leicester Tigers. After studying from Newcastle University, he started his club career at Newcastle Falcons. Parling was a first team choice in the 2005-06 season where he won the players’ player of the year prize. He was made caption of Newcastle on several occasions during the 2006-07 season. He stood runner up for the Gatorade Perfomance of the Guinness Premiership Season 2008-09. He contracted with Leicester Tigers for the 2009-10 season.
Parling played for England at Under 16, Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 level. He was included in the England Saxons squad to cover Nick Kennedy on 25 January 2010. He appeared in the victories against Ireland A and Italy A. He went with England squad’s trip to Australia in June 2010 and started the first game against the Australian Barbarians. In January 2012 Parling was selected in England’s senior squad to prepare for Six Nations tournament as a substitute for Louis Deacon who was injured. He was called up for the 2013 British and Irish Lions trip to Australia in April 2013.
