Exeter’s Henry Slade Wants England Spot for 2015 Rugby World Cup

Exeter’s Henry Slade expects he can have place in England’s squad for 2015 Rugby World Cup because of his versatility. In a non cap international against Barbarians, he started for England XV in May. He can play at fly half or at centre. An England training squad also selected him later in the summer. He said: “It is very important to know that you are in the frame with top boys and top coaches.” He has played most of his games as fly half but excelled in the midfield in Exeter’s 25-22 victory against Gloucester on Friday. He continued I can't complain as long as I'm on the field.

Slade has future at number 10 but he can play across the back line along with his long range kicking which can help him to secure a place when England head coach Stuart Lancaster selects 2015 World Cup squad. He said: “I will play at whatever position I am given. Game time is important at this stage of my career. Whether this position is 10, 12 or 13, I am happy.” Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “I think he can be an England player. He is sensible and we give him opportunities so that he can be the best player.”
