Rugby Overview of USA Player Phillip Thiel

Phillip Thiel plays for American rugby union and Life RC in the United States Elite Cup. He plays as both hooker and prop. He joined Rugby Union in 2013 after playing for American Super League Club Life University. He was called up for the United States national rugby union team’s autumn 2010 tour of Europe and for autumn 2013 tour of New Zealand, Georgia and Russia. He made his debut for the Eagles in 2009 against Uruguay.

He has appeared 17 times for the USA including 3 in the Rugby World Cup 2011. He joined Life University to play 2013 Division 1 and Elite Cup Series after being off for 18 months. He was chosen as a member of the North American All Stars to play for Life University against the Golden Lions. The USA Eagles Select team was co-captained by Thiel at the Americas Rugby Championship 2013 with the Eagles stood second.
